NJECC’s 33rd Annual Technology Conference ~ January 8th, 2019

Tuesday Presentations and Workshops
Join us for more than 100 presentations featuring professionals teaching in K-12 schools and universities. This year we will feature strands for Library Media Specialists, Special Education Teachers, Math Teachers and English/Language Arts Teachers. We will offer hands-on sessions and BYOD sessions. All presentations and workshops are listed below. You are free to choose from any of the sessions when you register for Tuesday, January 8th, 2019. The detailed schedule will be available mid-December. If you choose to attend our post-conference workshops, taking place on January 9th and January 10th, you must register for the sessions individually.

Cost: 
The fee for Tuesday is $110 for NJECC members and $125 for non-members.
All individual workshops on the post conference days are $110 (member) and $125 (non-member) for each workshop.
Google Certification Preparation Workshop Level 1on post conference days is $279.00 (member) and $299.00 (non-member).

Minecraft - HANDS ON WORKSHOP
 Minecraft is much more than a game, it’s a whole world of creative possibilities! In this workshop, participants will learn how to set up a world, navigate within it, build structures, and craft new objects.  Learn how Minecraft allows fast iteration so students can create - and re-create - a model of a real-world object. Then, create code quickly and easily with MakeCode and connect to your robot agent to turn your code into a building. Join the Minecraft community of educators and learn how to contribute your own lessons. Walk away with a new world of ideas and possibilities that can be immediately applied in any classroom.

Cubetto for the Elementary Classroom - HANDS ON WORKSHOP
This workshop will utilize the Cubetto robot to teach computational thinking skills for students in grades K-5. Cubetto utilizes a map layout, a small wooden robot, and a board with directional markers. Learners use these tools to construct programs and sequences to navigate Cubetto through the layout. Computational concepts such as logical thinking, abstraction, sequencing and loops are emphasized in the activities. Participants will get hands-on experience working with the Cubetto robot.

This 2.5 hour workshop will model how to use the GSuite & other collaborative tools to spark discourse, self-reflection and change by SEEING your collective thinking. The Flipped Classroom is a popular approach for maximizing class time for higher-level thinking activities and discussions. This hands-on workshop will teach participants how to create online tutorial videos to use in a flipped classroom setting.
